“Medieval Lovers Brooch” from the British Museum. 24 carat gold-plated with red & blue glass cabochons. Inspired by an original artefact at the museum, from the Thomas Becket: Murder & the Making of a Saint exhibit. The original 13th century brooch shows a dagger crossing the circle, is thought to have been made in either England or France. Features a Latin inscription on its reverse which reads: “IO SUI ICI EN LIU DAMI: AMO” which translates to, “I am here in the place of the friend I love.” In great condition. Retails for ~$50 CAD new.
Dimensions: 1.5 inches in diameter
